

Warri, Delta State — The Olokun worshippers of Ẹlolotsemiorire Island, an Ogidigben community in Ugborodo, joined in prayers and celebrations at this year’s Olokun Festival, extending blessings of peace, prosperity, and unity across the Warri Kingdom.
The annual cultural and spiritual event, which has been observed for decades, is a time of thanksgiving for the abundance of the waters and the land. Worshippers gathered in joy, offering prayers for enduring wealth, progress, and harmony for households across Iwereland.
Prayers for the Olu of Warri
Spiritual leader, Okpeyo Daje, fondly called Atsọ-fifẹn, led the congregation in special prayers for His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri, who recently rmarked his fourth coronation anniversary.
He prayed for long life, divine wisdom, and strength for the monarch to continue steering Warri Kingdom toward greater heights. The worshippers expressed gratitude for the Olu’s visionary leadership, describing it as a source of positive transformation across the kingdom.
Blessings for the People and the Land
Beyond prayers for the throne, the worshippers lifted their voices to Eledumare, Olokun, and other deities, seeking blessings upon Ogidigben, Ugborodo, and surrounding communities. Their supplications included calls for unity, fairness in leadership, and sustainable development in Warri Kingdom.
They also prayed for businesses, particularly international oil companies operating in the region, to prosper while prioritizing the welfare of host communities and respecting the authority of the Olu of Warri.
Goodwill to Government and Neighboring Kingdoms
The Olokun faithful extended prayers to the Delta State Government and Nigeria at large, urging leaders to uphold justice and govern sincerely for the benefit of all citizens. They equally expressed appreciation to neighboring kingdoms and well-wishers who joined in the festivities, calling for stronger bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and lasting peace.
A Festival of Loyalty and Thanksgiving
Concluding the celebration, the worshippers reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to the revered throne of Warri Kingdom. They prayed that the reign of Ogiame Atuwatse III would remain blessed with wealth, peace, and divine favor — “just as the sea never runs dry.”
With joy and cultural pride, they wished the people of Warri Kingdom a happy Olokun Festival and coronation anniversary, praying for continued growth, unity, and prosperity across the land.
