The House of Representatives has urged President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to ensure the safe release of ten church worshippers abducted during a service in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Sunday.
Leke Abejide, the member representing the area, noted that the kidnapped individuals include the presiding pastor and his children, and their whereabouts are still unknown. He also appealed for the rescue of Mr. Tuesday Amokere, along with his wife and children, in Idofin, Kogi State.
In his motion, Mr. Abejide linked the frequent kidnappings along the KabbaāEgbe road to its poor condition and urged relevant authorities and cement companies operating in the area to collaborate on repairing the 70-kilometre stretch. He further recommended halting all mining activities in the constituency as a measure to curb insecurity.
Meanwhile, Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West, has also called for urgent measures to secure the unconditional release of the worshippers abducted from the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba. The attack occurred during Sunday service, when gunmen reportedly stormed the church and kidnapped the pastor, his wife, and several congregants.
