The Itsekiri Community in Abuja made history on Sunday, 7th December 2025, as members of the Warri Kingdom in the Federal Capital Territory converged for their first-ever unified End-of-Year Celebration. The landmark gathering, themed “Rich Itsekiri Culture,” highlighted unity, cultural pride, and the growing influence of the Itsekiri people in Abuja.

The event, held at the Julius Berger Senior Staff Camp, drew a vibrant assembly of elders, professionals, youths, and families. But the most significant highlight was the royal message from the revered monarch of the Warri Kingdom, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR.

His Majesty was ably represented by the Father of the Day, Chief Lawrence Anirejuoritse Wilbert, who delivered the royal blessings on behalf of the Olu.

In the message delivered through Chief Wilbert, the Olu of Warri charged his people to uphold their heritage with dignity and forward-thinking excellence:

“To my children in the Capital: Remember who you are and who you represent.
You are a forward-thinking people. Carry the spirit of excellence—not born of pride, but of the distinct quality that sets the Itsekiri apart in all they do.”

He further urged the community to let the gathering serve as the launchpad for a renewed sense of unity and prosperity:

“As you gather to celebrate our ‘Rich Itsekiri Culture’, let this unity be the foundation for a prosperous 2026.”

The Abuja gathering responded with a resounding:

“Ogiame Suoooo!”

A Cultural Celebration Rooted in Identity

The event featured traditional Itsekiri music, dance, fashion, and cuisine, reaffirming the beauty and depth of the Itsekiri heritage. Attendees expressed their joy at the remarkable turnout and emphasized the importance of building a stronger, more organized Itsekiri presence in the FCT.

Community leaders noted that the success of the event is a clear sign of renewed solidarity and cultural pride among Itsekiri sons and daughters in Abuja.
