Army, police strengthen collaboration on security in Delta

The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration and enhanced operational synergy across Delta State to strengthen security and public safety.
This assurance emerged during a courtesy visit by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, to the Commander of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, in Asaba on Tuesday.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, and made available to journalists in Warri on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the visit was aimed at deepening inter-agency cooperation and strengthening operational coordination between the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, and the Delta State Police Command to enhance effective policing and overall security across the state.
During the engagement, CP Aina Adesola stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, prompt intelligence sharing, and joint operational strategies among security agencies, with particular attention to addressing security challenges in Delta State’s riverine and coastal areas.

In his response, Brigadier General Shonibare warmly welcomed the police commissioner and his delegation, reaffirming the Brigade’s readiness to work closely with the police and other sister security agencies.
He assured the Commissioner of Police of the Army’s full support in crime prevention, maintenance of public order, and the protection of lives and property throughout Delta State, noting that inter-agency cooperation remains a vital pillar of effective security management.
The commander further pledged continuous engagement to strengthen the existing security framework in the state.
It would be recalled that in October 2025, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori formally launched the Delta State Security Trust Fund, underscoring his administration’s commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Delta State through public-private partnership in security management.
