Bateren: Henry Esimaje Clinches Landslide Victory, Emerges President of Omateye Family Organisation
The Omateye Family Organisation in Bateren, Warri South West Local Government Area, has elected Mr. Henry Tonghanranrose Esimaje as its new President following a resounding landslide victory at an election conducted on Friday, February 27.
Mr. Henry Esimaje secured an overwhelming 66 votes out of the 67 accredited voters, defeating Eric Mene to emerge President of the organisation. Reports indicate that Eric Mene did not appear at the election venue, while one void vote was recorded in the presidential contest.
Other elected executives include Samuel Omajuwa Nesiangho as Vice President; Lucky Mogbeyiteren Bokaghantero as Treasurer, who polled 55 votes to defeat Victor Fregene; Sunday Etchie as Public Relations Officer; Mr. Beecroft Uliyemi John and Mr. Shola Ekwejunor-Etchie as Treasurer and Financial Secretary respectively. In the women’s category, Madam Diana Oduore emerged Woman Leader after securing 40 votes to defeat Grace Fregene.
The election was conducted by a nine-member electoral committee chaired by Hon. Patrick Fregene, PhD, with Barr. Rex Reyefoju serving as Secretary. Delegates from Ajagbodudu, Bateren, Benin City, Koko, Lagos, Sapele, Warri and Ugborodo were in attendance. The newly elected nine-member executive council was immediately sworn in by the Olorebi of the Omateye Family Organisation, Pa. Isaac Etchie.
In his acceptance remarks, President Henry Esimaje pledged to foster unity within the family, attract meaningful development and ensure prudent management of funds meant for the community. He assured members that his administration would uphold fairness, justice and equity in the discharge of its responsibilities over the next four years.
