Delta State Governor Allocates N100 Billion for Local Government Interventions in 2026 Budget

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, has approved N100 billion for local government interventions in the 2026 Budget. The announcement was made during the Governor’s presentation of the budget to the Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Governor Oborevwori explained that the allocation is aimed at addressing key infrastructural and developmental challenges across the state’s 25 local government areas. Averaging N4 billion per local government, the fund underscores the administration’s commitment to equitable development and grassroots empowerment.

“This government is a listening one,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
“We continually receive requests from community leaders for targeted interventions. This allocation enables us to respond promptly and fairly, ensuring that all communities benefit.”
The 2026 Budget, themed “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” prioritizes social protection, infrastructure development, human capital, agriculture, and security. The Local Government Intervention Fund forms a crucial part of the state’s people-centered approach, complementing ongoing projects to improve quality of life at the community level.
Governor Oborevwori also urged local leaders to support the MORE Agenda and ensure responsible utilization of the funds to maximize their impact on constituents.
