Fuel Price Increase is Temporary, Tinubu Assures Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the recent surge in petrol prices is not permanent, emphasizing that the Federal Government is taking swift action to cushion its impact on citizens.

The message was delivered by the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, during the second day of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Dutse.

Namadi disclosed that the President has approved the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses across the country to offer more affordable transportation and reduce the financial strain on commuters.

He noted that Tinubu is concerned about the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, particularly the effects of rising global oil prices influenced by tensions in the Middle East.

The governor appealed for patience, assuring that both federal and state authorities are implementing measures aimed at stabilizing the economy and easing the burden on the populace.

Speaking on agriculture, Namadi described farming as the mainstay of Jigawa State’s economy and encouraged residents to return to their farms with the rainy season approaching. He acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers, including falling commodity prices and increasing production costs.

He further revealed plans by the government to distribute fertilizers, improved seedlings, and farming equipment to boost agricultural output, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and strengthen food security.

Namadi also urged citizens to continue praying for peace and unity, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sustained investments in education, healthcare, and agriculture.

The Sallah celebration featured the traditional Durbar procession, where the Emir of Dutse, Hameem Nuhu Sunusi, alongside the governor, received homage from residents and visitors at the Durbar Ground.

The event was marked by colorful cultural displays, including horse riding, traditional dances, and drama performances, drawing large crowds dressed in vibrant attire.

In his remarks, the Emir commended the government’s development strides, while other dignitaries praised ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability.

Beyond marking the end of Ramadan, the Durbar also served as a platform for leaders to reassure citizens of continued efforts to address economic challenges and promote development.
