IGP Disu Visits Borno Following Bomb Explosion, Meets Victims, Inspects Damage

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, visited Borno State on Tuesday following a bomb explosion that left several people injured.
During the visit, he met with victims receiving treatment and expressed deep sympathy over the incident.
He was received by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Usman Umar Kadafur, who congratulated him on his appointment and commended his prompt response. The deputy governor described the swift visit—coming less than a day after the attack—as a strong sign of commitment and a morale boost for residents.
He noted that the IGP’s presence reflects the Federal Government’s concern for the safety and well-being of the people, while reaffirming the state’s continued collaboration with security agencies to achieve lasting peace.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Nazir Abdulmajeed, welcomed the IGP and extended condolences to victims and affected residents.

As part of his visit, the IGP inspected the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where victims are being treated, and also visited Monday Market, the scene of the explosion, to assess the damage.
He held strategic discussions with senior officers, including the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mobile Force, focusing on strengthening security efforts in the state.
Addressing personnel of the Borno State Police Command, the IGP urged increased vigilance, improved intelligence gathering, and proactive policing. He also reassured residents of the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging public cooperation with law enforcement.

Additionally, he pledged enhanced support for officers through the provision of necessary equipment and logistics to improve operational effectiveness.
The visit comes amid ongoing efforts to boost security across Nigeria’s North-East region.
